ProData Announces New RPGIV Templates

Omaha, Nebraska - January 8, 2003

ProData Computer Services, Inc., ProData Computer Services, Inc., makers of the flagship product, DBU, and a long-time IBM eServer iSeries software vendor, today announced RPGIV Templates, a suite of programs and source code written in RPGIV for programmers on the iSeries. The package offers functional RPGIV program templates to help programmers learn RPGIV and integrate with current applications.

RPGIV Templates feature fifteen programs which every development shop can use. Well documented source code for each program is included. Small development shops can use this entire suite not only to perform the functionality included in the package, but to learn how to write solid RPGIV source code. Basic file maintenance, inquiry, and error-handling programs as well as more complex subfile processing programs allow developers a wide range of RPGIV programming examples.

The File Maintenance template can run in change, delete, or inquiry mode and allows you to roll through the records in the file or position to a record for any of these modes. The Work with Subfile template can be used as a prompt screen for returning values to a program or as an interface to the File Maintenance and Inquiry programs. This template program allows the user to set a starting position, load the subfile one page at a time and page through the file. The Subfile Maintenance template allows the maintenance of records without the need to call additional programs. The records can be updated directly from the initial subfile screen. Two different types of subfile maintenance programs offer additional versatility. The Multiple Entry which allows the user to enter an entire screen of new records and the Single Entry which allows additions of new records from the initial subfile screen and displays them after each entry.

With the addition of RPGIV Templates to its line of software, ProData continues to offer high-quality programming products that loyal followers have come to expect. "With RPGIV templates, we are sharing our experience and the source code behind some of the applications we have developed over the years," said Marion Wamsat, one of the owners at ProData. RPGIV Templates is designed to complement other ProData productivity utilities for the iSeries 400 and can be packaged with ProData’s conversion utility, CvtRPGIV for those shops that need to move to RPGIV quickly.

Price and Availability
RPGIV Templates is available now for $750.
